Hey guys

I really like your podcast .. one thing that bothers me, though, is the noise-gate you're using (or perhaps it's built in to whatever app you record with). It's really annoying with moments of complete silence when you're not speaking because it sounds like the audio is lagging. The background noise in your podcast isn't annoying at all so I can't really see why you guys would need a noise-gate.

Anyways - great podcast and I'll keep listening.

p.s. why don't you guys mention some of you're own work? Promote your own apps/scripts or whatever a little more.

cheers,
David

Thanks for the comment Krayon. I have tried Arch in the past (as well as basically every other distro but I cam back to ubuntu because I love the .deb package management and apt. I am currently running Linux Mint and Cruchbang Linux on my main machines.

Hey guys ... just found your show... always looking for new Unix/Linux based podcasts.

If you guys think Ubuntu is fast, you should try out some of the more streamlined distros. They're much faster and you can learn a fair bit too. I recommend ArchLinux ( http://archlinux.org/ ).

I look forward to catching up to date :)

Linux Numbering Change

I like tradition but the change does make sense. Would make it easier to tell how old your kernel is and when to expect updates. Solaris does something similar.

I'm a Amarok user and am happy but do admit it can get a bit "heavy" on a system. Have you tried the two side by side? If so what were you impressions.

Ouch. I've been an Open Office fan for a while and love it. One of the reason I don't have to use a Win box for weeks at a time if I don't want to. OO has also helped many of my friends that couldn't put down $200+ for MS Office to get projects done.I had problems with the 3.0 Beta and went back to 2.4 but probably going to upgrade next week.

Not really driven to use the new Base application but I can see where it would come handy.

G1 Comment revisited

Checked with T-mobile. Does play back video but can't record video which isn't great but not a deal breaker. They say DUN (dial-up networking) isn't support YET.

I am reconsidering but still leaning towards a Blackberry. If they get a slick IMAP client on the G1 and my have to jump in an buy one.

Thanks for the shout. Keep up the good work.

Biggest issue with the G1 is follows:
No Video Playback
No Dial up Networking (DUN)
No OBEX (Bluetooth)
No UMA (WiFi calls)

I waited for this but with those omissions will have to wait for the Motorola Android or a BlackBerry.

Greetings from the FrostWire Team.

Thanks guys for having us as your pick for episode 10.
It'd be awesome if you took a look at this video we put together today

http://digg.com/tech_news/Internet_Scammers_charge_for_FrostWire_and_iTunes
It'd be awesome if on the next episode you could warn users not to pay for frostwire,
and only get it from the official website.
Some people are being scammed into paying for it.

As a cool note, we are the #1 most popular app for Mac on download.com this week.

I think I heard you say that you were not too sure of what's it made of, FrostWire is a 100% Java application (as of now), and it's built by software engineers from South America (Venezuela) and North America. Big part of our community (forum and chat moderators) lives in the UK.

Keep going with your podcast, as a podcaster myself (http://www.wedoit4you.com) I can tell you they only get better as you keep going. The trick is to be consistent and periodical, always publish the same day of the week (if you plan to do it weekly) and never miss one.

Stay tuned with FrostWire a lot more coming out.
